I believe we couldn't train on the pitch as we couldn't get a hotel due to the Edinburgh festival  Shouldn't make a blind bit of difference, we should still have plenty in hand to beat them. It'll be nice to see if Livermore has developed at all.

I wont even have a stab at the team as it could be anything, although we have plenty of midfielders missing apparently, including a certain croatian strangely enough !

    Gomes
    Walker---Daws--Kaboul--Benny
    Lennon--Kranj--Livermore--Bale
    VDV
    Defoe

I think that'll be the line up we could see Townsend in there though on one of the wings depending on if Harry wants to protect some of the players or not.

^ I'd say that will be the team too. It SHOULD be more then enough to win, I gotta a weird feeling about it though.

Are there two legs in this thing or just one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭mushykeogh

    Two legs.

It looks like a pile of players are being held back to not cup-tie them. It's bollox, we signed keane , defoe, rocha, and they were all cup tied. Play the best team on the night.
We should be able for hearts with what's left. They aren't barcelona ffs.
Harrys doing a lot of yapping- too much. He listed all our injured and talked of who was left- but Niko was in neither camp. He seems to be the nw Robbie Keane- top top player, great lad blah blah blah, but never played.
Why did we buy Pienaar when we had Niko.
And while I'm ranting, Bassong looks broken. If Harry doesn't want him, get rid and bring in Cahill/Samba. Otherwise, build him back up, don't leave him to rot. I really like Harry, but his management of fringe players is not good, and it's getting worse.
One last thing. The idea that we can get in 4 players of quality for the money Chelsea are willing to pay is hogwash. If he's not happy, put a price tag on him, and let them all have a look. That price should be over £35m.
    Team tonight
it shouldn't matte, but we need to get a game for any fit first choices ahead of Monday, so
    Charlie/Walker, Kaboul Dawson and BAE
    Lennon Kranjcar Townsend Bale
    Defoe Pav
Give VDV 45 mins, but let Hearts run themselves out first

Thanks - realised after posting that it was a stupid question. This is the Europa league and nothing (except the final) is settled in one match!

    Livermore, JD and VDV start.

Spurs with lovely quick passing and JD tucks it away nicely

    0-2 to Spurs.

Cracking goal from Defoe. The team are looking very good, but Hearts are making it pretty easy.

What a goal by JD! 2-0

    0-3 to Spurs.

Livermore with a really well worked goal. Some fantastic 1-2 passing going on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,926 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Why can't we play in Scotland every week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,534 ✭✭✭dabbler2004

The difference in English and Scottish football is there for all to see, Hearts are a poor side. Spurs haven't had to pass 2nd gear.

Only joined this 30 min in but saw the goals at half time. All I've seen from JD other than the goal and one great attempt that was ruled offside is some brutal efforts, poor decision making and general crapness. Is he really looking sharp ? I know that sounds like a stupid question of a striker after a goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 582 ✭✭✭RoboClam

    Bale makes it 4-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭mushykeogh

    Great pass by Huddlestone.

    0-5 now.

Great pass from Townsend sets Defoe through, who whips it into the box for Lennon to tap it in. Very nice counter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,534 ✭✭✭dabbler2004

job done. Hopefully we can bring the 1st half performance to the Man United match. BAE was man of the match for me another solid display.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭Hatch99

    Looked strong and sharp.
Still doesn't disguise the fact we need a couple of bodies in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭tippspur

A good display by Spurs, knocked the ball around very well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,163 ✭✭✭✭Liam Byrne

Robbie goes to LA but Spurs do a Hawaii!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

I'd have Walker as Man of the Match.
He was caught out once or twice but the Hearts lads really laid into him in the second half and he stood tall.
    Great prospect!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

We won't have a match that comfortable in the PL this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Livermore looked great today shame opposition were so poor we might of seen just how good he is but he really looked great looking for the ball one touch passing and a great goal too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,926 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Walker definitely impressed, I’d also give him man of the match. He’s young, so he’s going to get caught out now and then, his speed more than makes up for this...unlike Charlie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,951 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Nice result, and just what needed before the game on Monday. Good to see the young lads impressing and hopefully more of them will get game time next Thursday.
