Ok, so one thing I love having my ipod and especially having a **** load of memory to just keep getting songs.... I use my ipod and get songs off friends computers... its my whore-pod

My problem is since iv gotten it, (roughly a year and a half ago) it has become corrupt sort of about 5 times!!! Basically it would pop up on the laptop that there is an issue with the usb drive and that it cant recognise the devise then when i eject my ipod all my music is gone!!!

When I go on to my ipod it says theres "No music" but whe i connect it up to itunes it says that the memory that would be used for music, films etc is being used up still but by "Other"....

I thought it was the laptops usb drive making the ipod corrupt or something because its really old (2005 Dell) so I always thought and knew it was risky connecting it to the laptop, but when I connected it to my sisters Mac to snake some songs from her itunes after about 2 hours of slowly uploading music, the same thing happend again....

Anyone who this has happend to or if anyone knows what is causing this please let me know! Im tired of reseting my ipod.... 3 times in one weekend this happend :(

***TRY THIS FIRST***It's a post on an apple site from a guy called AxleKO and people seem to be grateful so i guess it works:

I've had this problem before on an older 60GB iPod.. back then I didn't come across this solution. What I did to save my music back then required another empty iPod (the iPod 160GB I'm using now) and the software iPod 2 iPod, which was able to read the music and playlists on the 60GB that iTunes couldn't. I used iPod 2 iPod to transfer the music to the empty 160GB iPod, and I was able to read the music/playlists again in iTunes when the 160GB was connected to the PC. I connected back the 60GB iPod and restored it... then used iPod 2 iPod to transfer the music back from the 160GB to the old 60GB and it was fine again. It was a lot of effort though, and I paid for the iPod 2 iPod licence to transfer the thousands of songs I had. The great thing is the songs maintained the original "date added" attribute, which allowed me to keep track of when I added the songs, but the album art had be downloaded again as they had disappeared!

Maybe this is an alternative "solution" that might be a permanent fix for some of you.

you can use this article to help transferring music to your PC instead of another ipod http://www.buzzle.com/articles/how-to-transfer-music-from-ipod-to-computer.html

Hey, try these two links out, hopefully you will have the solution in one of them.try the top one first, because it sounds like your problem and it also deals with it on a windows machine.

Sounds like your hard drive is fecked. If so they're pretty easy to replace given a bit of patience.
