Just got quoted €1380 for first time insurance on a provisional. I was thinking that's quite good as last time i got a quote on the phone i was 19 and they wanted nearly €5000?! I am 25 now though.

Am i doing good? Just looking to see what others are paying :pac:..

In 2008 when I was 17 on a learner permit I was paying €2000 for insurance on a 02 Fiat Punto 1.2l 8v. Twas with quinn direct!

Nice, that was fairly cheap were you the only driver or did your folks go named?

No that was my own personal insurance! You should get an online quote from insure.ie. They will search a few company's for you instantly and any I checked them out they always came back surprisingly cheap!

Is it really worth going fully comp on a 98 Almera though? Did you get a quote for TPFT? I've a BMW 320CD worth 11k so obviously that should be fully comp, but I've an Audi A4 which is worth about 3k and I'd only insure that TPFT if it was my main car. Could be a difference of 4-500 quid a year.

I'm 25, full licence 4 year no claim bonus. Renewal up October when I'll be 26, if it's anymore than 800 I'll be shopping around.

So what if its "only" an Almera, maybe its his only car and wants to make sure he is well covered in the event of an accident.

Why anyone would have 2 cars is beyond me.

Noway, when i was 19 i was getting quoted double that by quinn direct on a 900cc corsa. I rang insure.ie today, they quoted €1900  that's before i have to spend €500 on 12 hours of lessons with these new laws.

Becuase his next renewal would probably be his existing Premium + more than the Value of his current car.

You'd be mental to claim for a car worth that much on Insurance, it would be far cheaper in the long run to buy another car of the same value

Unless one of them is a big black van and the other is a white corvette, both decorated with a red stripe.

Then it's perfectly acceptable, but they do accomplish different things.

Anywho... OP I got quoted €700 by Tesco online (23, 1.4 '99 Polo). Rang them and it jumped to about 1,500.

Then I got a quote from Lloyds via Insure.ie (I think? I can't really remember the specifics to be honest) and i think it was 1,200 or something like that (but it was quite literally a document to say i could drive a car on the road legally. It covered nothing).
