Did my car come from England???

    Hi,

I have a 2000 Ford focus. I was just in a Ford dealer in Dublin to buy a few parts, the guy serving me asked for my reg which I gave. He gave me the parts and then told me that the car wasn't in the Ford Ireland data base and must have come from England!!

I bought the car 2nd hand in 2007, however I have the service log which states that it was serviced in Ireland @ 12K in Oct '01 which would make sense for a car registered in 2000. Were Irish people buying new cars in the UK back in 2000? Can't remember what the exchange rate was back then!

Does anyone know how I could find out if the car came from the UK of Ireland? Is there a database I can search myself?

    Thanks

Cartell or some other reg check website will tell you for a fee.

Alternatively the VLC cert will sometimes have date of first registration and date of first registration in ireland and the last registration number on it

Google Ford Etis, stick your VIN in there and it'll tell you :)

The service book will tell you, if you have it.

Why do you care where it's from now? It's 11 years old!

The logbook will tell you the 1st time it was registered in Ireland.

Cheers mate :) I had a feeling the guy in the dealership wanted to flog me a new/newer one. Have a friend who was told the same bull sh1t when he was trading in a car, it came from England and was probably crashed! Then you'r offered a devalued trade in price

Hi there, if you'd like to send me the registration number I'd be happy to check if it's an import for you.

    Hey,

I went into a different Ford garage today and asked them to check it. Guess what! It's NOT an import!!
