Hey, so as far as I was aware, the ability to take screenshots in an unrooted android phone still wan't possible. Just there though I managed to take 11 screenshots, and I have zero clue as to how I did...

When did this come into Android and how the hell do I do it? I have a Sensation btw...

You can capture a screenshot by pressing on the Power button and then the Home button.

On the galaxy S II it's similar, but you press and hold the home key, and quickly then the power button

Yep, they're in a folder called Screen Captures (I think) and appear in your gallery -like all pictures and videos on your phone (unless you put a file called .nomedia in the folder -in case you have any .......private photos/videos)

Ya, they just appeared in my gallery...

Seems that with the sensation you press the hold button and then tap home. Works a charm (quite like iphone actually) and very handy...

No worries - it's the one up top, used for turning phone on/off..

My phone updated earlier, but this doesn't seem to be working for me. I either lock the phone or show my most recent apps (ie. either hold the power or home button for too long). Am I missing something?

I think there's just a bit of a knack to it, took me ages to get it right. You will know it's worked as (SGS2 anyway) you'll hear a shutter sound

Tried this on Desire HD but no joy

Don't think it's possible without root on Desire HD. Sensation + SGS2 are the only ones I'm aware of

Just checked and I'm still on 2.3.3. I installed an update which I presumed to be 2.3.4 a few days ago but it wasn't. Has anyone on meteor gone to 2.3.4?

I never knew how to do this, but i had taken screen shots by accident before. Very annoying when your phone freezes and your randomly pressing buttons, then it makes the shutter sound and the girl working opposite is thinking 'did that pervert just take a picture if me'. That did happen me, i think she believed my explanation:D

I've been doing it accidentally on my un rooted sg1 accidentally for ages. Still can't figure out how to do it purposely, the home and power button doesn't do it.

Edit, ah, you hold the back button and then press home.
