    Hi,

My wife is due to give birth soon in Holles Street. I am a bit worried about the parking situation up around there. I know of a car park that is cheap enuff but closes at 7 i think, not the best if its an all nighter. Also the parking on the street costs a fortune and i think you have to move every 3 hours, again not the best if my wife is in labour. Does anyone have any suggestions as to get around this or what they may have done themselves in a similar situation? Also how safe is it to park on the street at night up there?

    Hi, congrats first of all.

The parking situation around Holles St is a bit of a problem. I remember saving every 1 and 2 euro coin I could for about three months before my son was born to make sure I had enough to feed the meters there. If there is a way around it, I didn't find it - just had to run out every three hours and reload the meter. I didn't bother moving the car though. As for missing anything, labour goes on a long time (usually) - the midwives will tell you if anything is due to happen soon, so you'll be able to run down to the car as needed. I think the pay-and-display ends at 7pm though, the car should be fine overnight - I had no problems with it anyway.
