I usually give money for weddings but I know this couple would prefer a gift. Any recommendations for what to get, budget is 300 euro?

Hmmm, how well do you know this couple, what sort of things are they into?

We were given a fabulous painting as a wedding present, my old boss got it for me (we've known each other for years) and it was gorgeous. The only thing is she said the only reason she was comfortable getting us a painting was that she knew me well enough to know what I'd like and also we're close enough that she would trust that I'd tell her honestly if I liked it and knew she wouldn't be offended if I preferred something else. Art can be a tough one unless you know the person's taste well. If you'd be confident you could pick a piece they'd like, it'd be an awesome present and would be something they'd have forever.

Ooh, actually another present that we got that I was delighted with was a canteen of cutlery (fancy stuff altogether). It just made me feel all properly grown up and married that if we're having people over for dinner we can get out 'the good silverware' haha! Again, for your budget you could get a really nice set that would last a lifetime.

A gift is so hard to choose, the best gifts are personal so it depends on how well you know them.

Art is totally down to personal taste like Toots says, but how about a portrait of the couple? Lots or artists will paint a portrait from a photo. Check out the artists work first though... I've seen some that didn't capture the likeness at all. Or you could get a framed photo collage made up from photos of the couple (not a Vistaprint one, a proper professional one ;)). They are personal and thoughtful gifts and you can't go too far wrong giving someone a picture of themselves!

    Pokerkings suggestion is great too.
Or you could go for something practical that they would not spend the money on themselves, like a fancy coffee machine (I'd LOVE a fancy coffee machine but couldn't justify spending over €200 on it myself :)) or something like that.

Would a voucher ok or do you want an actual item? I'd suggest a voucher for a framing/art place so they could get some wedding photos nicely framed for the house. That's something they'll have to use after the wedding when the hype has all died down which I always think is nice.
