That's a great price. I just got one installed last week, and the guy charged me €90 just for the box. Not much I can say about it, other than it is really small basic tuner and it does what it says on the tin.

Has anyone been able to pickup the other channels on this (BBCHD, ITV HD) etc

Not from satellite as it's a terrestrial receiver. Should be possible to receive the SD freeview channels it you're within range of a UK terrestrial transmitter (border/east coast) with the correct aerial but not the ones you mention above as they require a DVB-T2 tuner.

Should this box be able to play .avi files from a USB stick?

Says USB with movie playback on powercity site, so I imagine it should run avi files.
Like most stbs though, there are probably certain codec qualifications.

I have one of these Digihome Saorview boxes from Power City, it works fine for Irish Saorview channels but I can't get UK Freeview SD channels on it. I thought I would get them as I'm in Co Louth and get BBC 1/2, UTV & Ch4 analogue signal.

Do I need a different type of aerial to also get the UK Freeview channels or is this box not capable of receiving them?

    Anyone know....? Thanks.

NI switches over fully to Freeview sometime around the end of next year. Until then, it is only available from three main transmitters. You may be receiving your UK channels from somewhere like Kilkeel which is currently analogue only.

It states on the instuction booklet for this that once it powers on that it has to preconfigure first to get to the initial menu screen. When I power it on I get a green light and then it has on the control panel the words IN it. Has anyone who go this box experienced the same, It does not display the menu screen on the tv in order to search for the channels. Does this sound like a dogy box that I will have to return. Just looking for advice from anyone else who go this box and experienced it.

It may be a problem with the connection to the TV. If connected by SCART, check the connections, try a different cable or use a HDMI lead if your TV allows it.

Thinking about picking up one of these Digihome DI1180 boxes this week and seeing as this box has been for sale for at least a year already judging by the start date of this thread, I'm hoping someone out there would post a list of pros and cons they have experienced in the last year.

My old TV has a scart socket and an aeriel cable socket in the back (no HDMI, i think), so im interested in knowing if the scart connection is reliable on these boxes, or do they only work well on HDMI?

Also curious as to the Teletext subtitles option on these boxes; is it good, bad, or pretty much the same as the analogue '888' version?

Any other good or bad things I should be aware of would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty much just looking for the most basic cheap model of Saorview box, not fussed about HD or recording or pausing live tv, i'm more than happy with just the 4 basic channels, and I can't find anything 'Saorview Approved' for under €59.99. Oh and yes I am one of these people waiting to see if the signal really is being switched off at 10am on Wednesday :pac:

I have one of these boxes installed since last weekend. Its working fine in one room but in a different room its giving problems.

In the kitchen it picks up the irish channels only
However the same box in the sitting room picks up the uk channels and occasionnally the irish channels but it keeps losing the irish channels.

Im suspecting that the box is fine and its something to do with the cable feed from the aerial to the sitting room. Its a bit head wrecking so appreciate any help.

Were located in Drogheda if that makes any difference.
    Thanks

Its the cabling as you have already identifed. It is losing the strength due to the length of the cable run and/or due to old cabling.

Define losing ? Just flickering on and off or having to rescan for the Irish channels ?

LOLs Barney, looks like you have two aerials or else you had interference in one room and put a filter there ...eg Tetra interference. ( that would be the room with fewer channels) :)

I have connected this box to my television by scart and powered it on. i previously received the four main Irish channels by aerial to this same tv but when i search for channels on the box it says it cant find any and asks if my antenna is working. if anyone can help me with this or suggest a solution to this problem i would be very grateful

Was the picture quality on all 4 analogue channels equally good?
What transmitter does the coverage checker recommend for your location?

Just following up on my earlier post last night.

Since the switch over this morning all is fine in both rooms. I didn't change anything and seemed to pick up the irish channels after 10am this morning.

So Im now getting the Irish channels in one room and Irish & UK channels in the others with the Digihome box.
    Thanks for your comments

Yes this box can play avi files. Unfortunately though, It wont read any of the MP4 files on my USB despite it saying mpeg4 on the box. Maybe it's a codec issue.
