**EDIT** Title should read 'prison for 500k'

Would you give up five years of your life as you stand now for 500k?..

you gotta put up with all the 'joys' of prison life but you will not have a criminal record after..

another poll thread  most are ****e anyhow

Everyone in here will do the time.

Prisons are holiday camps, don't you know? What with all the plasma screens and Playstations. 5 years is a piece of piss to this lot.

Given the choice I'd take the 5 years in prison over €500,000 like any rational person would.

5 years peace and quiet away from the wifes nagging for €500k - it's a no brainer.

Aw I thought it would be something like a couple of months.

    5 years?

    No way.

I'd rather actually organise an armed robbery because the returns could be higher with the a similar penalty and you might get away with it.

    Your odds are wrong.

I wouldn't say too many armed robberies yield half a million sheets.

Yeah it's a pretty high amount but even if it you only got say 100K you might still not have to do a day in jail if you do it right.

Add a few more zeros to that 500k (and not after a sneaky decimal point!) Then I'd think about it.
But 500k is not worth 5 years of my life.

Financially, I gave up five years of my life (and more) to get to the highest level of the education system. I might as well have been in prison during both my final degree year and my final PhD year. I couldn't be more serious. I never went out socialising and I never drank alcohol but I exercised regularly. The isolation and self discipline of both years resulted in them being the happiest, most productive years of my life, incidentally. It was, even at the time, a fantastic experience to walk out of the library at midnight having discovered new information and added to human knowledge about my area.

The bookworm in me can see a lot of merit in prison - especially if, as the OP states, I'd have no criminal record at the end of it.

Sure you get to read books all day, workout and have a toilet mere inches from your bed... well worth 500k imo

i know a lot of lads/ladies who are around 23 now and have done fook all in the last 5 years of their life since school and was just thinking to myself whether they'd rather have been in prison for those years and then have 500k(not sayin i have done much with my life up to this point btw..i'm lookin at after hours ffs)..
or if there is people out there in so much debt that they'd take 5 years in prison for their family to have a better life once you're out

Sure I had to do the tour, Like. :) Only ever done one proper sentence though which was in Limerick Prison, Other times were fines or remand if I didn't turn up for court, Iv been to Cork Prison 4 times but only once spent a night there, So im not and never was a serious criminal. A fool would be the perfect word to describe me at one stage.

If I were doing it id go for being locked down 23 hours a day with one hours exercise. Id have my books, playstation and laptop with me. It would be a chance to live the ultimate slacker's lifestyle with a 500k payoff at the end.... sounds good:)
