Sky+ Box with white FTV Sky Card

I have a white FTV Sky Card working with an old Sky Digibox. I've been offered a Sky+ Box by someone who doesn't need it.

Will I get the Sky+ Record functions with a free FTV card or do I need a current Sky subscription? Also is the Sky+ box better than the Digibox in any other way? Thirdly, will I have hassle trying to "pair" the box with the card? I don't want to have to ring them as the card is supposedly at a UK address!!!

    Thanks, Paul

    Hi Paul....

Sadly,,you'd have to ring them to get the card paired to the box.

And yes,,you will need a subscription to get the record function.

The only way that box would be better is the fact that you can pause live tv,record, and rewind...

But don't forget,,to be able to use all those features,,you will also need a dual or quad lnb on the dish,as the + box uses 2 feeds.

Some incorrect advice there, once a FTV card is activated it will work in any box.
The only advantage a Sky+ box has is that it has an Optical out for connection to an amplifier including Dolby Digital for those channels that support it.

I'm an idiot. I couldn't get the card to work in the box but I've just realised I was putting it in the wrong slot!!! I just found another slot behind a cover! And a USB port - what's that for?
