hi, if theres a similar post or im in the wrong forum ,just merge or move it thx

just out of curiosity, how long did it take for ur Learner Permit to come thru since submission?

when i submitted my application, i was told itd take between 2 - 4 weeks, but i didnt think they literally meant that :(. so after 3 weeks of waiting, yst i ph Motor Tax , the woman on the ph said, "yeah we have 6 weeks backlog so youd probably get it in a couple of weeks, just this morning i was doing the 8th of July application"..... and i submitted on 22nd of July :(

is it like this everywhere or has it always been like this?

The Dublin Motor Tax office is pretty good - usually a week at most. I think it's Waterford is the one that takes ages.

If I remember right my Learner's Permit took 3/4 days from Dublin City Council. Full licence was there 2 days after applying.

Did everything at the tax office on a Thursday and had it by the Monday.

Brought all my documents to the Motor Tax Office in Cork and got it issued there and then.

Took about a week to get my learner permit and a week to get my full license. both at Meath county offices. I was told both times there was a backlog!

I think different offices have different definitions as to what they consider to be a backlog:) However I would rather have them under promise and over deliver. Guess it's just to cover themselves!
