mods feel free to move if this is in incorrect forum....thought I'd get some informed opinions here

Declan Ganley is guest presenting Vincent Browne program tonight...debate is on NAMA

I was surprised to see him appear as a presenter to say the least...thoughts? is this just my own small mindedness?

They have had just about everyone else.

I was more surprised by Mary O'Rourke.

I'm surprised a lefty like Browne could handle someone so right-wing filling in for him... could be an interesting show though.

Fergal Quinn was desperate aswell. But it suited Decco down to the ground. Very polished...

Ganley did a very good job of it, of course it was made easier with Constantin on the panel who he's in business with.

I really miss Vincent though. Anyone know the date of his return? Might get a bottle of bubbly for it :)

God this will be interesting tonight given EU announcement and Ganley's Anti-EU views.

I thought he did well last time but this will be a test of if he can allow a balanced discussion happen.

No Govt spokesperson available after the Franco-German stitch up today. Brilliant quote from Ganley " They're probably hiding under a table thinking up a positive way to spin it,,," :D

I'm not a Ganley supporter however I've got to say that he has done a superb job presenting the VB show these last two nights.

He asks a question and then shuts up and lets the contributors answer.
Thus the viewer gets to listen to the point and the discussion flows.

Vincent Clown would be wise to adopt the same technique. It makes for a better
    viewing experience.

have to say I was pleasantly surprised also at how he let the panelists have their say tonight.....it was a bit of loaded panel though right?

always thought Ganley was overbearing , Smug, Aggressive in putting his point of view across whilst campaigning and to me always carried a whiff of the untrustworthy about him but it doesn't transfer across (if it was ever the way at all and only a bias I had) into how he handled the job as host on VB...v.polished

Haven't watched Ganly, i'll get onto to the player later but all the other guest presenters have been brutal to say the least with Quinn being the worst.

Yeah, anyone know when Vinny's back?

yeah, loaded panels on both nights I thought but have to say it was refreshing to have a crisp clear discussion on the vb show for a change.

VB is a legend and will never be matched but Ganley should be offered the gig when v's not avasilable...

Right:rolleyes: He loads the panel, to suit his own agenda. He gives disproportionally more speaking time to McGurdiev, his own business partner. He fails to declere the conflict of interest, in having McGurdiev on the show in the first instance.
And you reckon he should get the gig full time, if and when that other, hero of unbiased reporting leaves the stage:eek: FFS, give me Marian Finpuking anyday

The VB Show is a lone shining light in Irish political broadcasting. Long may it last...

Hardly surprising considering it's tv3's flagship current affairs show and the only competition is RTE who will allow guests to use their shows a a soapbox just to keep them coming back. Although Constantin Gurdgiev and one or 2 others seem like part of the furniture on vinb's show too so vinb suffers the same stale outcomes. RTE current affairs debates are soft and irrelevant but vinb just gets moany economists/academics and rarely any gov members. Neither is great tbh.

Flawless intro tonight with a good mix in th panel.

Got stuck into bleeding hear Boyd-barrett immediately...:D

yeah, first sign of his bias there. He couldn't resist cutting across him every few seconds. Still nowhere near as bad as vinb's interruptions.

I do not agree with a lot of Ganleys opinions but I am a fan of how he conducts himself. He gives his opinion and lets you give yours. That is how consensus is reached.

The FF/FG/Labour et al PR machines did a job on Ganleys reputation from his first arrival on these shores with the help of the newspapers and RTE. Very sad to see them threatened so much and a lot of the gullable people in Ireland just follow.

Consensus!! Who needs consensus? We had years and years of consensus, under the Bertie governments! We had the unions, and other bleeding hearts sitting around government buildings, reaching "consensus", on economic and social policy through the pay agreement process.
That's essentially what ****ed the country. We didn't have strong leadership, or strong governence. We had "consensus"!!!

:D Consensus amongst a selected few of like minded isn't real consensus. That is like the consensus of a pack of lions to eat the wilderbeest. I'm sure there would be a different consensus reached if the wilderbeest were asked their opinion.

I doubt most over there watch or will watch Vincent Brown which is probably why he felt safe saying the things he said. either that or he favors the French opposition over the current French government and is hoping to stir things up if the news gets back home. Either way I'm sure he knew what he was doing.

Wow though, Ganley is a master of having people that agree with him on one issue on the panel and only letting them state their opinion on the thing he agrees with them on before moving on to the next person that will continue his opinion.

It is almost scary to watch him work the other night with how good he was at shutting down people when they deviated from the script he he wanted the show to follow.

I have to admit that I am surprised just how polished and professional he has been as a presenter this past week. He comes across as someone who has been presenting for years.

french guy hadnt a clue , at one stage he was rattling on about east coast states in america having very high level of debt while stating that west coast states have low levels , ffs , california is on the verge of bankruptcy

Pity VB, couldn't get Sarkozy on for a week. Probably, have to get a few chippies into the studio to build a soap box for the little squirt to stand on so the camera could pick him out;)
Of course we would need Joe Higgins on as a guest:cool:

He did a fine job, I loved the way he wound RBB III right up. His annoying, wincey little face just had to sit there and like it.

I'm not a fan of VB, tbh. Just seems like a dithering old drunk at a bar, to me.
