I want to take my wife away somewhere warm for 3 or 4 nights around the end of October for her 40th birthday. I have a budget of about E800 and I would prefer to fly out of Shannon. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (No wise cracks!)

if you want to fly from shannon your destinations are limited but If you fly shannon to stanstead you can get ryanair flight to loads of gorgeous places very reasonable. I flew into Trieste in Italy during summer and was great. You are only an hour from beautiful places in croatia slovenia and Italy. there is also flights to Berlin, Munich which are fab. Have a look at stanstead you might find something you'd like. Good luck and enjoy!

Rome too, so romantic! I don't know what the weather would be like in late October, but I went in September and it was very hot.

Seville also is lovely. I went there in November, and wore t-shirts the whole time.

I liked Barcelona and Madrid too. There are loads of good art galleries in Madrid, and good night life.

I'd love to go to Valencia too. I had a look at the Ryanair website yesterday for Valencia in October, but I think there may not be any flights then.

Depending on when in October there are flights from Shannon to Malaga. Hire a car and drive to Cabo de Gata in Almeria. We went there for 4 days last October and it was gorgeous. It's the dryest part of Spain too. The sea was still lovely and warm.

Actually we pretty much did this trek

but you could just choose a place to go and stay for the time you are there.

Is your budget of €800 for flights only or for accomodation too? Or is it the total you have to spend?
