Why you should log off your emails on public pcs - I know something you wish I didn't

I work in a place that has some internet pc's. Recently at the end of the night when logging off / shutting down one computer I noticed that a yahoo email account was still logged in and an email history / conversation was up on the screen.

I know from this screen that one of our regular MALE customers likes to dress up in womens clothes, calls himself sarah, recently met another like minded individual in a hotel room but bottled it at the critical point because he's not sure if he is gay or is a lesbian trapped in a mans body.

Although I couldn't help but read the conversation in front of me I logged him off to spare his privacy without reading the rest of the emails on "sarahs" account. I also to be honest had a bit of a giggle at the concept of being a lesbian trapped in a man's body. :)

So now I know something deeply personal about a relative stranger and all because he didn't log off his email.

Moral of the story of course is make sure you log off public pc's etc but have you ever found out something about someone that they don't know you know, and that they most likely would not be happy about.

Also to be fair and honest sarah is not the name on the account - I don't feel it is right to publicise it tbh :)

Unless you're the chap who left himself logged in to the pc you've misunderstood. :)

I often see people leaving computers logged in at Uni with either there personal or student email left open. Can't understand it.

Whats the big deal? Are you going to treat this person any differently when you meet them again? How would you react if you worked in a womans boutique and he asked you to measure him for a bra?

You seem to be more hung up on the crossdressing bit than the actual fact that they left their email account open. If it was an email describing raunchy behaviour between this man and his girlfriend / wife, bet you wouldn't even have started the thread!

I'd say he left that open deliberately OP, knowing you'd wander up and take a good look at what he was up to online. I'd imagine he was standing just out of sight after fooling you into thinking he was gone, watching you go over to his computer. In every other internet place he tries this, he watches the guy that works there shut it down but you wandered up, had a look, got interested, read through his stuff...you swallowed it all (as it were). Make sure to keep us posted on phase two of his plan, sounds like he knows EXACTLY what he's doing...

I was sure I logged out before I left :(

    Anyway, I've decided that I'm a lesbian trapped inside a man's body.
Any lesbians want to meet up PM me.

    Rgds
    Sarah

OP tell the real reason they shouldn't leave themselves logged in. It's that you'll forward the mails to everyone on their contact list.

I know someone who might be gay la la la la la, grow up ffs.

Well I'm getting a little bit of heat here. :)

    Just to clarify:

The screen was open on a conversation - it was actually on a second tab that was in the background. What was there was there and it wasn't my choice I saw it. There were plenty of other emails that could have been read if I had decided I wanted to be a nosey prick. They weren't read and I logged him out. There was no prior snooping, no ha ha I will leave this for nosey prick worker to find etc.

The point of the OP is simple - log out of public pc's if you have something private you don't want the public / next person using the pc to come across. If the guy in question has made an email account in a different persons name it's safe to assume they don't want the public knowing that. The story is an example not a judgement on his personal life. This wasn't a prank - the guy was gone a couple of hours before closedown.

@newmug Why in Gods name would I treat him any differently. Not hung up on the crossdressing aspect at all - and yes I would have started the same thread and indeed I believe AH would have loved it and encouraged me to read through it all and reply to the wife etc etc.

Frankly I think that the cross dressing topic is enclined to be one that people will be more sensitive of / eager to defend a persons rights and this is clear here. I apologised to Links234 earlier in the thread for being insensitive - the reason I was flippant with the remark about a lesbian trapped in a mans body was I found it humorous / ironic. I didn't see it as an issue or something to be hung up about and hadn't thought about people in that position.

And as I mentioned in the OP sarah isn't the name that was used so stop upsetting SarahBeep! :)

Similar story, a few years ago my OH was working in his dads garage, he traded in a car from a local man that he knew as being married with children and very upstanding in the community.

On valeting the car there was a camera left in it, on the camera there was photos of him and a younger man in ahem - "compromising positions".

OH didn't do anything about it. We still have the camera at home, hidden away in a drawer, never used and still has the incriminating photos on it.

I actually could, but I won't. As much as I could edit out faces etc - I wouldn't put them up on a public forum. His family or the other guys family could be boards users, you never know with the t'internet..

Wasn't much upstanding about them at all. A lot of lying down on beds, one of the younger guy masturbating whilst sitting on a couch, a couple of them taken in a mirror while "at it".

When I say "younger guy", he looks maybe 25-30, but the older fella is 60-70. Just wanted to make it clear that there's nothing paedo about them!
