Being a mod on here is a joke when you think about it.

You do a job and dont get paid for doing it.
I mean, there is a big long thread about the Internships and how alot of people feel you'd be a fool to do a job for free.

is being a boards.ie mod any different?

But to be serious,
think about it. Boards.ie obviously want this board to be run a certain way (pretty much the forum charter sums up what way) but also dont want any legal action too. So mods are a necessary on both fronts.

Which, leads back to the question ... if they are a necessity. Why expect people to work for free? in fact why do people work for free?

different story if boards was a regular forum. But its a business. Its no different than getting people to stack the shelves in a supermarket for free.

I dont mean to stir anything, but there is hypocrissy on this board. In all forms.

I could post a thread about "black people - should they of been allowed to enter ireland?" and for it to be closed (as its racist and might piss off other users etc) ... however, someone can come along, as they did, and create a thread entitled "when did you first realise there wasnt a god?". Thats ok tho. Bit of a contradiction right? (dont want to upset the black people, but to hell with the religious types)

Better yet. Boards.ie will openly say you do not have free speech on this board. Fair enough. That irish laws dont apply. But ... they do anything to close down threads about real world things that could potentially make them be sued. (MCD, those barmen being accused of manslaughter etc)

So on one hand, irish laws dont apply. but they do on the other. :rolleyes:

That's just the regular Mods though. CMods don't use lubrication. We can't afford too much slippage or the trolls get complacent and cocky.
