Paying for hotels online?

Hey. Im travelling abroad next week and im just booking hotels now. Ive seen a nice two star hotel. I rang them and everything seems ok. While I was booking online now they asked for the last three digits of my laser card number. Do they normally ask for this? Im not used to booking hotels online, Thanks everyone.

Yes, asking for the security code online is pretty standard
