There's a classic car one alright, over in the classic section but i don't think there's one in this bit

    Thread really needs pictures.

    :D

I dont understand why a thread would be needed?

Then don't look at it anymore, some people may be interested in it, some may not. There are plenty of alternative threads to look at if you want something else.

anyway here's some that aren't really abandoned... just a little bit stuck

But what if a dodgy member uses the thread to find out where said car is abandoned and goes and robs it:confused:

FFS if you don't get the thread then don't post here.

There is a thread like this for classics and I'd like one for modern cars as well that have been shoved in ditches etc for a while.

I don't see any issue with it

The same could be said for any picture of cars on the internet.

More pics and less Off-Topic chit chat is what this thread needs!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

I'd like it if it was only pics of abandoned cars that were taken by the posters.

Otherwise you're just going to have a thread where people trawl the internet looking for abandoned images and posting them - it'll be long and pointless before long.

I like the way its been there so long that, whoever put down the lines for the parking space, went around the car :p

Looks like a Carllsson bodykit but I'm not sure.

    Worth saving

This thread is a good idea but however it’s could be argued that there is a similar one in the classics forum, perhaps if this one was formally renamed say

    ‘Post 1989 abandoned car thread’

There is no place for mk1 mondeos, carina-e’s and the like on the classic car one but people would like to see them anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,191 ✭✭✭_Conrad_

well here's a younger one. sitting "for sale" for ages with that frayed bit of tow rope hanging off it.

    DSC05945.jpg

As far as i know this yellow golf had been sitting there quite a while when i took the picture

indeed, it gets dirtier and dirtier every year, and the rear plate has fallen off to as i recall :P
There is an atoz in the carpark in shannon, was parked their in 2007 and left.
Rumor has it, the parker can be seen fumbling for their keys whenever there is a full moon!

A ford escort, being subsumed by grass next to a scorpio. was once part of my own mini scrapyard, i didn't exactly bother taking many pictures of them though over the years

    DSC05681.jpg

This belonged to a friend of mine, it went missing for ages when the garage where it it was closed down and the guy fecked off with all the cars, it was eventually rediscovered "abandoned" in front of an unoccupied house in rural tipperary. Along with a random selection of other cars that guy had absconded with.

indeed. easily 5 years. I had a picture of it taken with a proper camera when it looked far better than this but i can't find it. would be an interesting, and sad comparison

I'd love to spend a couple of hours walking through Dublin airport car park, there should be dozens of beauties in there.

Considering theres a silly amount of cars per person here, heres a taster of one such car. Anyone want to guess what it was? Here since the mid 90s

    Image0537.jpg

    Image0538.jpg

Edit: Anyone else know a blue Mercedes 300SE on the Navan road in Dublin, in someone's driveway? Reg 90-D-15114? Its been there since at least 2000... Theres a green Honda Del sol not too far down also in a driveway, 96-LM-something on an axle stand, whats the story with that? And near maxol theres a dark blue 2000 yaris in yet another driveway going green...

There's another X19 in Tipperary, remember seeing it a few months ago.

Parked at the back of an old cottage. No pics though.

Surely a car on someone's drive can't be considered abandoned :P

Ah she's not an 'R' but now that mine is off the road and going racing some red body panels would be handy to have knocking about the place. The UK spec has a similar front end to that one

Depends though, it could be just there, I will restore it some day, not for sale etc.. and it slowly rots there.

That car annoys me so much, my cousin tried to buy it off him 4 years ago and he said he was keeping it and restoring it. I don't think it has moved since, and it's in such blatant view of the main road!
