I recently installed spambayes 1.0.4 and i cannot get it to run. My PC is running Vista home Premium and I suspect its to do with permissions - any advises?

Found this on the official site FAQ.

    http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/faq.html#does-spambayes-work-on-windows-vista
2.1 Does SpamBayes work on Windows Vista?

SpamBayes does work on Vista, though you will have to tweak the permissions on:

    c:\program files\spambayes

    More details are available here:

    http://mail.python.org/pipermail/spambayes-bugs/2007-January/004119.html

Note that you will probably have to execute the installer with elevated privileges. Right-clicking on the EXE and selecting "Run as Administrator" should work (and will be necessary even if you are logged in as an admin user).

Are you also running it as admin? go to the shortcut / right click / properties / compatibility tab / check "Run this as an administrator"

    Try launch.

Installed as Admin and tried running Outlook as Admin - no show

    • Right-click on spambayes EXE file
    • Select 'Run as Administrator'

    * 'Run as Administrator' is not the same as logging into the Windows administrator account.

Yes I have done this but it appears that Outlook 2007 is not firing up Spambayes
