Mondeo brake hose assembly problem

I just had my 05 Mondeo Diesel estate fail the NCT due to a damaged brake hose. According to the guy in the testing centre this is due to the brake hose being "incorrectly assembled" (which is in itself a point of failure).

No work has ever been done directly on the brake system as far as I know except for pads or whatever.

Earlier this year I had the dual mass flywheel replaced, starter motor cleaned out, clutch assembly checked. Is it possible that this work on the DMF caused the problem with the brake hose assembly? Is it worth my while complaining to the garage that did the DMF work, or is this in a completely different part of the car? I have no clue where these things are in relation to each other.

Any advice greatly appreciated before I go talk to the garage.

Chances are that when someone replaced the pads they put the caliper back on with the brake pipe twisted.

Usually solved by removing the caliper, rotating it around and refitting.

Ah... okay thanks. So it probably was due to the service / brake pads replacement rather than anything to do with the DMF?

Just wondering cos it was different garages that did those things for me.

Not necessarily. If it's one of the front wheels that's affected, then that could have come from the time the work was done on the clutch/dmf.

    This.

I see this quite a bit. A very common problem on the rear of Renault Trafics/ Nissan Primstars
