    Hi Folks
Hope someone out there can help me with this.
I have a peugeot 307 1.4hdi with the airbag warning light on, I have replaced the connections under the drivers seat, also about 6 months ago replaced the com unit on the steering column, this cleared the warning light but about a month ago back it comes. nct is due next Wed. so I took it to my mechanic to clear the light but the darn thing just wont go away. the fault is coming back as the com unit which is practically new.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated

Did you fit a new coms unit at the time..?...Maybe check connections feeding to the coms unit.

Fitted the new comm unit to cure fault which seemed to work initially but after a couple of months it reappeared, I left it as I assumed that when I had it reset prior to nct that it would sort me but no, the darn thing just wont stay out.

Did you buy the coms unit from peugeot..?
I'd be checking the connections feeding the coms unit before i'd go fitting another new one.

What fault code/message did your mechanic pick up when he plugged in..??
Have you fitted a none standard radio/cd player..??

If the wiring is o.k...?..then it must be another faulty coms unit.

since the resetting didn't work with the diaagnostic tool, you could try a hard reset. Disconnect the battery for about 15 mins and then reconnect and that sort of "reboots" the ECUs. I had an fuel injector light coming on a while back and after i disconnected and reconnected the battery for other reasons, the light never appeared again. Worth a try at least.

Failing all measures, you could just take out the dash panel and remove the bulb for that airbag light. I'd get around the NCT failing you for a dash light at least. Thats if a 307 has bulbs and not an LEDs or LCD display though.

The 307's display an "Airbag Fault" message on the centre display so there is no way around this.
You could try the bsi reboot but i don't think it will do any good...:(

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I had the old comm unit and I was able to borrow a second so with some trepidation and a haynes maual I removed the air bag and wired each of the two spare comms and still got warning light, I am sure that the borrowed one was ok so the problem lies deeper, but at least I have ruled out one possible biggie.A mate has offered to explore the wiring further so touch wood he may find something. will update when i have anything to report.
    Cheers

Car will fail the test if the airbag light does not come on with ignition - unless the tester fails to spot it, which might] happen, but I would not bank on it....

They won't fail you on it ,trust me i put two cars tru the NCT with the air bag light on and they didt fail me.

check the link out does't say that they fail you on it...

Unfortunately, from experience 2 weeks ago, at the Galway centre, I can confirm that they DO FAIL you on the Air-Bag light.

In my case it was also a Pug 307.

I have since had the fault repaired. A very good mechanic resolved the problem with the COM unit for me and the car has since passed the test.

    Success at last
My mate has come up trumps, using what i think was a continuity meter he discovered a corroded section of wire under the dash, which meant that I did not have to change that comm unit day one. However all is now well, all I have to do now is replace the exhaust and im ready to be tested again.
The airbag warning light was fail advisory but has now been changed to fail. That and the exhaust was what the Peugeot failed on.
Thanks everybody for pitching in with the suggestions now I gotta source a back box and pipe, the joys of motoring.
    Cheers

It is a fail under warning lights, think it is worded something like 'airbag light does not follow correct sequence'

I recently took car into NCT. They didnt give me cert but told me to get airbag message fixed and they would without having to re book etc. The problem is local peugeot garages are charging a fortune to remove this message. Does anyone know of anyway to do this?

Hi this is a handy forum for Pug owners.
I had the airbag warning light problem and in my case was a difficult fix.
The usual case is the connectors under the front seats, push your seats forward and you will see a length of wiring clipped under the seats, there is a push connector inline which can give problems, I seperated them and cleaned the contacts as best I could , in an awful lot of cases this does the trick, the next most common problem (and expensive) is the comms 2000 unit located on the steering column I paid slightly over €200 on ebay for one, my mechanic chargec me 90 to fit it and reset the warning light and after all that it turned out to be a corroded connection in the`bulkhead not a common one it seems.
If I was in your shoes I would remove the connectors under the seats and replace them (spade connectors or similar) disconnect the battery for about half hour to reset ecu and see what happens.

You're not going to believe this but I had the airbag light on my dash from the moment I bought my second hand '06 Peugeot 307 Zenith.

I got Peugeot to run a check and was told it was the seat side airbag (My car has no side airbags in the seats lol)

The car passed the NCT without any issues so I decided to simply leave the light alone. (Annoying as it was)

Recently the indicator lights started acting up as if one of the bulbs had gone, flashing faster than usual on the dashboard. I went to change the bulb and spotted that although none of my indicator bulbs were out one of the rear tail light bulbs was not working. (There are 2 bulbs for each rear tail light, one was working so I had never realized that the other was out)

I removed this bulb to find it had two connecting lumps on the bottom (You know the grey looking things on the black part at the base of the bulb?) the bulb on the there side only had the one grey connector part.

I bought THE CORRECT type of bulb and fitted it.

Now my rear tail light is working on two bulbs, the indicators are not acting as though one of the bulbs has gone and THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD HAS GONE OFF TOO.

    Result.

There is also now a light on my dashboard top flashing red like some kind of alarm is activated but as far as i know the car has no alarm. Any ideas anyone? I'll be investigating further myself.

I hope this helps someone as i looked and looked for a solution but to no avail.

If this does work for you leave a quick TY here to help any future searchers.

    Cheers !!
