Who was really responsible for Live Aid. I always thought it was Midge Ure and Bob Geldof stole his thunder. What do you think?

It always bugged me that they sang "and there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time" as if because they were poor that they didn't get to enjoy snow! They should be worrying about food, not snow!

We're talking about an event that happened 26 years ago ??

Neither one of them are worth remembering.

I would say Midge Ure let him have it,
probably felt sorry for Geldof, seeing as he couldn't compare musically.

    Fúckin class song.

Really? It remains the single most charitable act in human history. Plus it rocked.

Whatever you think of Geldof, and I find him insufferable, he deserves huge credit for what he's done.

He may deserve credit, but I' sick of all the exposure that he gets.

He's quite possibly the most boring individual to have ever graced a television screen.

Was watching Top Gear a while back, Geldof was on.
At one stage he cracked a smile, which was, possibly the only time I had ever seen him do so.

They way I remember it Geldof had the idea, rang Midge Ure first and then they started to get other singers involved and committed. Midge Ure was responsible for writing and producing the song Band Aid and the 'Do They Know Its Christmas' single, when this proved to be a huge success the decision was made to go ahead with Live Aid the concert which was organised far more by Geldof than Midge Ure.

Admittedly Midge Ure is somewhat forgotten for his work at the time but even though Geldof comes across as a tosser a lot of the time there is no doubt that he has made a huge contribution to society.

    Kudos to both of them.

Damn i thought this was a who would win in a fight thread....i'd say Midge Ure would be able to beat the crap out of geldoff, he'd be like a wee terrior, geldof would be jumping about the place with his stupid floppy hair getting in his eyes while midge rabbit punches him in the bollox. I'd love to see that.

Nevermind anyway what mattered at 3 in the morning after a few glasses of wine does not make so much sense now in the cold light of day.:o
