What players that you expected to move this Summer still haven't been snapped up?

Two I can think of are Scott Parker and Kevin Doyle.

Still baffles me that you never hear Fellaini linked with the top clubs. Class player altogther and still a great young age.

Everton paid £15m for him and would want £20m + to sell him. The bigger clubs can attract a better standard of player for that price and the smaller one's can't afford to pay that sort of money.

I think he has huge potential and upside at only 23 years of age, even at over £20m. You hear Rodwell his clubmate linked with £20m+ moves to big clubs on a regular basis but IMO Fellaini is a far better option at this point.

Clubs are playing the waiting game with Parker knowing that West Ham will want to get him off the wage bill. Once it gets closer to deadline day I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave for a few million.

Doyle is a similar situation to Fellaini IMO. Wolves paid £6.5m for him and would want £10m + to sell. The teams that can spend that sort of money on a striker will feel they can get better for that price and the others can't afford to pull that sort of money out on one player.

I can't believe Papiss Demba Cisse is still at Freiburg. He's quality and well worth the €15m asking price.

Surprised that Dortmund have managed to hang on to Goetze, Subotic and in particular Hummels all of who would be capable of playing for any top side. They could dark horses for CL this season.

Also surprised to see the likes of Llorente, Mata and Rossi still at the clubs they are at although looks as though Rossi could be on his way to Napoli

Im a bit surprised Kevin Doyle (Wolves), Marvin Martin (Sochaux), Rossi (Villareal), Samba (Blackburn), Gary Cahill (Bolton), Rodallega (Wigan) havent moved on so far in the summer think they could all play at bigger clubs

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Surprised there has been little talk of Hamsik at Napoli moving.

Doyle isn't moving. Wolves are bigger than Arsenal (esp as a triple word score)

Rodwell is english so English papers will be a lot more inclined to print(probably make up) stories of him making a big money transfer then Fellani. I think nearly every manager would prefer to have Fellani though.

The prices for a lot of those players would be very high, especially the English based ones.

Good shout, he scored what 22 goals in the german bundesliga last season? just behind gomez for golden boot, scored again over the weekend.

Not so surprised at Llorente tbh. Basques tend to be quite loyal, particulalry if they play for Athletic. I wouldn't see him leaving Athletic to go to Spurs tbh.

I'll be interested to see what Athletic can do under Bielsa this season.

Marcus Hahnemann is still without a club. Must be demanding big wages and putting off lower league clubs.

Mata is a massive surprise for me, seeing as Valencia are struggling financially I was expecting a lot of low bids trying to tempt Valencia into selling.

For Hazard it must be his age and the asking price that teams are waiting for an extra year, wouldn't be a bad way for Arsene to spend Cesc's cash.

Wigan? I've not heard that one but I doubt Wigan would come near the £20 odd million he'd cost, I did hear Liverpool linked with him last summer but that has died down altogether now with Kenny in charge. He's another one like Llorente, both the players are happy to stay at the club, the club want them at the club and the club don't need the money.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Valencia are not as strapped as they have been in recent years.

So a team that by your on words could be a dark horse for the CL ( a view I don't necessarily share btw) aren't a top side?

Yep. 4 or 5 behind Gomez at the end of the year. I think 1 or 2 Russian clubs came in for him but he didn't even consider going there. 2 in 2 this season, if he keeps it up he'll get his move next summer!

Yes hence why i said Dark horses instead of one of the favourites. They have some of the best young players around but their team is by no means one of the top sides in Europe.

Definately, Lavezzi and Hamsik are 2 unreal players, but Napoli are doing well enough and they seem happy enough. And lavezzi probably hasn't scored enough to warrant a big transfer fee

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Liverpool played Napoli twice last season. Hamsik was rubbish twice, hard to know what the fuss is about to be honest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,570 ✭✭✭Ulysses Gaze

Vicente Rodriguez. Released from Valencia and still just 29/30.

Similar to Hargreaves in that he has enormous talent but consistently blighted by injuries. Still a good player on his day and worth a punt on a pay as you play deal.

Because you seen him play twice and wasn't particulary great, you don't rate him, try watching something other than the premiership and you'll realise that there are a lot of great players outside of England.

im surprised that someone does not think brussia dortmund are not a top side!!??

highest average attendance in european football!
more league wins than chelsea(who im assuming most on here would think is a big club for some reason)
    more european cups than arsenal

everything points to them being a massive club, one of the biggest in european football...

I can judge him against a pretty poor Roy Hodgson managed side and a in few internationals. The only thing that caught my eye was his hair cut. Maybe in La Liga he is da BOMB but that league is hardly gold standard these days.

Giuseppe Rossi is one I expected to have moved on already this summer, super player and Villareal will be doing well if they can hold onto him.
