Fantastic running by Mark. I think Mark has some really special qualities as a distance runner - he can go with the pace and still has a turn of speed when he needs to kick. He might well be the the star of Irish distance running in the next few years. He also has an excellent coaching base in Letterkenny and is getting better year on year. I think he is a huge prospect for Irish athletics.

Would agree that Mark has an excellent base in Letterkenny, training with Darren Mc Bearty, Ruruai Finnegan and Co. One word of caution would be that now that he's off to Uni that the athletics could take a back seat as it did for his 2 very talented sisters.
Would love to see him continue with his athletic career as well as balanceing his studies but as we all know that can be very difficult to achieve.

McBrearty is based Dublin which as far as i know is where Mark is heading for college as is Dan King another runner part of the McDaid Letterkenny group so hopefully this could be a contributing factor to his continuing success
