But what time does registration usually open at? I'm talking about the aug 17th one just in case it varies.

    Cheers

No set time. I've got on at 7am or as late as 10. Round guess, around 8.30 / 9am.

Is it for existing students already?

Registration for some Stage 2 students begins on Wednesday.

I hate this whole waiting for the registration to open lark.

Registration was open for my course (B&L stage 4) earlier. Got registering for modules and tutorials then came back later and it was closed. Looks like we'll have to re-register in the morning :(

Is SISWEB down or is it just me?

EDIT: Nvm, just slow as hell it seems. No change there from other years then!

Typical, what a sh*t system/setup they have going - have been sitting around for the past hour waiting on this. Sort it out UCD

Managed to register, got to my first module choice then it froze - hasn't worked since....

No, I can't get through. Some others have tho, which makes it worse because other people could be taking up the class spaces while some can't even get through to the ****ty website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 199 ✭✭CD.

I got through and was able to choose classes but it's so slow I'm not even sure if it's registering me properly or anything. Was able to choose 4 of my classes and it should have registered me to the four, but the system only shows that I'm registered to 3
Frozen now on the same class for the last ten minutes or so.

Which is really annoying. Any ideas if we can just keep refreshing the Web Enrolment homepage or not, or do we actually have to log back out and log back in?

Have a funny feeling that logging out and back in will only make you loose your position in some sort of queue. ****ing shambles. :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 199 ✭✭CD.

I had to log out and back in to get it working the first time, but now its seemed to have unlogged me just now while I was trying to drop a class. (chose the wrong semester cos I'm a feckin retard.)

It's almost like UCD did not anticipate that thousands of people would try to register their modules this morning.

I'm getting nowhere. Can't even get to the SIS loginpage now. Was in earlier but kept getting thrown out.

At least it's a nice day outside.

    :)

    Oh I wouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, I've been attempting to register for over an hour now and I'm yet to be signed up for a single module, I wonder if they expect me to do this all day??:mad:

Fair play, at least you're getting somewhere.

Some of the module pages are now saying I have registered, but the Credit Information panel on the left is still saying 0 registered. And there is nothing on my calendar. I'm in No Man's Land.

I feel like giving up. I think I'll stick on Everybody Hurts to keep me from flinging the laptop out the window.

Any luck yet anyone, it just tells me to log and and try again later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 199 ✭✭CD.

I'm almost done, just trying to sort out one class atm. It says it isn't chosen but when I click into it it says I'm already registered (I did register to it), but it's not on the credit statement nor is it on the labs/tutorial page. So waiting for the page ot reload to make sure that I am registered to it.
All it took was two and a half hours.

quick question, I need to do 3 electives this year, but if I choose them in the module tab and they are more than I need (eg, choose 5 of these 8 and I choose 6) do they count as go deeper electives, or do I need to do it through the elective tab when they open later?

I logged out to see if that would help but now I can't get back in again. They seem to have closed login temporarily.

can someone who has got to module selection page post the url they get for the page after this one:

    https://sisweb.ucd.ie/usis/W_SM_WEB_ENR_WELCOME.SHOW

that as far as I can get

Seriously, wtf is the going on...?

Has anyone had any feedback from anyone in UCD about how long this will take? I'm holed up in a sweaty hotel foyer in Chiang Mai - I've wasted most of my day waiting around to register, can't move from the pc or I may not get back on it again!!! Getting very peed off at the mo

I love Chiang Mai, so being 'holed up' there doesn't sound too bad to me. But ... yeah. This is a disaster. Mark Rogers why do you want to ruin my life?

    There is this not entirely encouraging note on the Students Registrartion Page;

IMPORTANT MESSAGE - Online Registration is experiencing heavy traffic at this time. You may experience delays accessing the system. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will continue to update this page. Students are getting on and are registering, just slowly.

But I've heard stories of people logging on straight away without any trouble

Managed to finally get in, registering at a snails pace. SIS web is awful, broken links everywhere and pages just stop loading randomly. Its been like this for years too.

    EDIT:
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (SATURN.PK_SFTREGS) violated

Lulz, cheers for the informative error message? Got that when I went to register a module.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 199 ✭✭CD.

i got something simimlar. when i go into the module, it says i've already registered to it but on the module tab it says I havn't chosen it. It's also not on my credit statement.
UCD is a pain in the hole, class now says it's full and apparently I am not registered too it, despite the page for the module telling me I was registered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭Estragon

I think that at this stage (over four hours since SIS opened the registration area) that this can be called, officially, a debacle.

Particularly disappointed in UCD's (lack of) communication. Once flimsy note on the Students site. No emails, no advice, no explanations. It's unprofessional. UCD is supposedly one of the top 100 universities. Things go wrong in all organizations but the lack of acknowledgement of the problem by UCD is apalling.

I seem to remember that there were some problems with SIS last year, although nothing like this. They should have anticipated the traffic. There should be an investigation later, and a report made public of what changes UCD will put in place to ensure this does not happen again.

The SIS thing is telling me that an elective i did TWO years ago is incompatible with my 2 core modules!!!! can the student desk sort this out because i can register for everything else except for 2 of my core modules....

This is such a pain in the arse been up sincde 6.30 trying to register!

Beyond a joke at this stage, heads better roll for this. I only get one day off work per week and its spent trying to deal with this ****.

wow **** this, i'm just gonna do it tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36 shelly818

This happens every year, you'd have thought they would have coped on by now that they need more servers and to have less courses registering at the same time......

 timetable is going to be all over the place now!

That's all I've been getting since I started an hour ago. Should I keep trying or is it just down for everyone?
