This is probably impossible but did anyone down this way see a single-engined low-wing monoplane flying yesterday (Friday 12th August)?

It wasn't your normal type of civil aircraft, sounded powerful and looked sleek, like a single seater.

In fact, its planform reminded me of a Spitfire as it had a similar wing dihedral and shape but the sound wasn't a Merlin or Griffon.

Sadly my camera was at home.... *sigh*

    Any ID gratefully received, thanks.

Hi there , If it was an IAC pc9m , it should be very easy be verify , theres a guy in the west of Ireland whos on this forum and FDB , (uses multiple user names) so I cant tell you who he is this month!
But anyway from his posts you will see that he has great contacts in the Air Corps, just ask him , he might even be able to give you the crew details as well.
Hes been a mine of information in the past.

Nope, not a Pilatus, not a turboprop. I've seen them joyriding enough times to know the difference.

You may be better pitching your question over on the FDB site where there are some real aviation experts.
Its nice to see that you regard the Irish Air Corps PC9 pilots as a bunch of JOYRIDERS, they must come all come from a deprived social economic backgrounds so, at least its good to see that someones giving these lads a chance in life, God nows what those guys would end up doin if the Irish Air Corps Hadnt taken them on and given them a chance.
Do you actually know any of those pilots- joyriders?
