    Hi all,
    Does anyone has an idea how the induction week for first years goes? Does it depend on the program and/or is it essential to be there before class commencement?

    I'm pretty sure you need to go, you register/get your student card around that time. (What I've gathered from dit.ie and this board).

    The date of orientation depends on the course, more here.

    Attendance, while not compulsory, I'd recommend it. You'll find the information sessions, ice-breakers etc to be of great use. You'll get a chance to speak with fellow classmates, lecturers, course co-ordinators and union reps.

    If for some reason you can't make it, best let the relevant school know.
