Got an email about this release during the week, pretty expensive but there is still a strong possibility I'll fork out the cash - bit annoying that I already bought the 7" singles boxset when it came out about 3 years ago but I am such a sucker for 'limited' boxsets with posters, DVDs, art prints etc! Expensive though at £249.99! This is what you get... I don't see where they are getting '8 albums' from though?

Probably includes Hatful of Hollow, maybe a live album... eh, I'm struggling to make it come to eight, tbh.

Sounds great, but way, way too expensive (for me).

As a great man once said
"Best of ! Most of !
    Satiate the need
Slip them into different sleeves !
    Buy both, and feel deceived"

Its quite depressing how many releases their have been since the Smiths split.

I have all the non best of albums on CD, most on vinyl and about a dozen of the 7" singles ive acquired over the years but im sick of all repackaged crap over the last few years.

I have no interest in this release the Smiths made music, I already have a copy of pretty much everything they ever released I have no interest in some new photos and some cd's that look like LP's to place the CD's I have that look like CD's

Yeah, The Smiths (or, more likely, their record company) went a bit mad with the best ofs and compilation albums. It kind of diluted their output for me (back in the day).

Do not order this from Rhino. They debit your account straightaway.

    Cheaper to pre-order from Amazon.co.uk

I bought all The Smiths LPs and 12"s as they were released in the 1980s but am a sucker for box sets so have ordered this.

It won't have everything though - there are a few b-sides that aren't included despite the presence of the "extra" 7" singles.

Wondering what the CDs will sound like - the remastering on The Sound Of The Smiths (2008) was a little bit hot for my liking.

The best sounding Smiths on CD are the original Rough Trade discs - flat and uncompressed.
