WD Passport drives - which USB cable?? Help please

    Hi All,
    I have a couple of Western Digital passport drives and I want to get a spare USB A-B cable or 2 for them. I bought one that doesn't work (light comes on, but the drive does not appear in windows).
    So before I attempt to buy another, can someone tell me what I need to look for?

    I was told that the cable needs to be below a certain length. Is this correct? Are there any other characteristics?
    Would like to find one on ebay ideally. Any help or links?
