Tv wont switch out of AV mode

I would be grateful for any help with this. I just connected up a set top box to an old telly in the kitchen to receive Saorview. Problem is when the box is turned on the TV wont cycle out of the AV mode. With the box in standby it switches between TV and AV no problem.

Sounds like you may need to disable SCART control on the box if it provides this facility. A more destructive way would be to disconnect pin 8 of the SCART cable. However this will also disable any automatic aspect ratio control.
