With competition from non US hurdlers getting better and better I would say this year is possibly gonna be her toughest challenge yet

Sally Pearson has run 12.48 this year and her form doesnt seem to be waning despite such a long season

Add the likes of Lisa Ulrech, Christina Vukicevic, the 3 Americans, Tiffany Porter who have all run quicker this year than her 12.84 which was run on a notoriously fast track.

I know she is a Championship performer but she is gonna have to pull out something pretty special this year to be in with a shout

Sally Pearson is amazing this year.It sure will be exciting. One thing i have learnt with derval is to expect the unexpected.

Sorry but i dont agree, I think this is Derval's best chance out of any that have gone before on the world stage.....vukicevic is have injury worries and has not raced in weeks and reports say she might not even go to Daugu and if she does she is not race fit and that a huge negative....Lisa Urech ran a 12.62 or .63 on as you said a fast track... no other of her performances are close ... also urech ran in the euro u-23 where is was hot favourite and she ended up second by a long way. If Derval repeats last years form she has the beating of both vukicevic and urech...
As for the other top european Tiffany Porter... Yes she has a 12.60 to her name recently... but soe of her races have being far from perfect this outdoor season ... she has no big outdoor championship experience and i think she won't be running a PB in Daugu or i dont think she will run faster than Dervals National record either so i Think derval will take her in a big race Daugu.....
Derval is the 12th fastest going into Daugu

    Sally Pearson12.48kellie Wells12.5Danielle Carruthers12.52Dawn Harper12.58Tiffany Porter12.6Lisa Urech12.64Perdita Felicien12.73Phylicia George12.76Vonette Dixon12.77Christina Vukicevic12.79Derval O'Rourke12.84Aliana Talai12.9

As for Vonette dixon i dont think she will produce a low 12.6 sometime come world championships...

I dont think PEARSON will be beat in Daugu , she is running so well...

as for the three AMERICANS i really dont know what to predict... kellie wells has ran fast but some of her races of late have been below par, long season maybe ?? and for her sb there was a good wind behind her....Dawn Harper with 12.58 and a few ok races , who knows what she will do..... Carruthers is running really well but has no big time experience i think she will deliver in Daugu though , wont beat sally tho...

I think some of the Americans have ran better before world champs , the jamicans ennis london and foster hlyton are finding it hard to break 13 seconds never mind run 12.60.... nytra, kallur and ?? about vukicevic ... lopes schlip out for year, lolo not making the us team.... I think its A great chance for Derval...
She has run 12.84 early in season , yes on a fast track.... but a few days ago ran 12.87 .... two of her non championship best times.... she says herself she hitting pb's in training and is injury free for months for 1st time in years ....she says she has ran some poor races this season and is making mistakes in her hurdling techique in races that she is not making in training ....
I think this could be the year she medals at world outdoors.... I could be wrong, but i hope im not..... and before anyone says anything, yes i am basing the times that might be ran in Daugu on good conditions... yes if there is poor conditions times will be affected but im dont think my order of predictions will be

For those interested, here's an interview Derval O'Rourke did recently.

    http://www.therunningreview.com/?p=578

With regards her chances of medalling, I think she has a decent shot.

Pearson and the 3 Americans will be tough to beat of course, but the Jamaicans don't look too hot this year. Any sign of Nytra or Yanit? I've heard nothing from them this year. Realistically, you'd expect her to make the final to be honest. In 2009, a 12.73 was needed to make the final. I don't think the quality will be as high this time round.

Totally agree with you.... standard is not as high .... Nytra out for all of season with back injury and will not be in Daugu. Yanit had a injury early in the season and has not run under 13 seconds this season.... so doubt she is a going to be a force in world champs to be honest....

Also Vukecivic has pulled out injured .... so basically all the top europeans from last year are out injured or not in form...

which only leaves tiffany Porter , the British American... think Derval has the beaten of her in a big race..... sally pearon and the 3 americans are the only ones i think can beat Derval if shes on form
