Avon-Animal testing or not?

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread.

Avon cosmetics- those ones that drop a wee booklet round to you and deliver the stuff to your house!

Are they connected to animal testing or not. I've been looking at different websites and some say the don't and others say they do.

Just wondering if anyone here has any idea of the answer?!

Would they actually admit(if it were true) to some random person emailing asking if some parts of their products are tested on animals?

Avon say:

“Avon does not test products or ingredients on animals, nor do we request others to do so on our behalf. Avon will conduct animal testing only when required by law.”

but...

Seemingly strongly worded statements like this are made by many companies - and it sounds very comprehensive. But they are not being completely honest because they do still buy and use 'new to the world' ingredients that have been tested on animals during their development. Any legal requirement to test on animals only arises because of the companies desire to use new chemicals in the hope of increasing their sales. Many companies also include rabbit logos on their packaging - but this is no guarantee that the item is genuinely cruelty-free either.

They are therefore on the list of companies to boycott

Hey I've been following these girls for a while, they are pretty famous in the beauty blogging world and never use beauty products that are tested on animals. They update their list of products/companies they use when they get clarification that the company doesn't test on animals (raw materials or finished). Avon has made their list

It's all kinda confusing at times
Like how far do you go with it all esp if a company is owned by another bigger company that does test on animals.
As far as I know the body Shop doesn't test on animals but L'oreal bought the body shop and they apparently do.....so if you buy body shop stuff then the money is basically going back to L'oreal >.<

I know it's so hard to know which companies to use policies are worded to make you think they don't do anything but when you look closer the truth is scary.

This is my current list of companies that I am using but I have been updating it a lot, I am a freelance makeup artist so I am constantly looking for products that are cruelty free to use on clients and models.

The Vbeside the companies means that they are completely Vegan and there's no animal product ingredients used either
