Looks like BA getting themselves ready for the "recovery".

Whilst it may not be to everybodys liking,it may also offer a career path for some .....?

Interesting to see how the UK Defence Cuts factor in quite rapidly to the commercial arena.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Could someone please convert these requirements into the Irish Leaving cert system ?

"You’ll need seven GCSEs at grade C or above (with Bs in English, Maths and a Science subject) plus three A-Levels, at grade BBC or above (General Studies excluded). "

When's the closing date for it? Anybody got any general insight into it? Think it's good?

"If you’ve got equivalent qualifications then you will be asked to provide a Letter of Comparability from UK NARIC before attending your first selection day."

It hasn't started yet. It's only been announced.

    Anybody applying for this?

I'm guessing a B at GCSE is not equal to anything below a B in J.C.? I think I'm just edged out by having a C in Higher English but meet the requirements otherwise...

I've applied, if you're not in you can't win.

There are some rather interesting threads on pprune about it, one in particular started by a guy who reckons he got shafted on a pay-for-your-type-rating scheme and can see similarities in the BA FPP. It's worth a read here...

    http://www.pprune.org/interviews-jobs-sponsorship/461966-ba-s-future-pilot-scheme-moral-disgrace.html

While the days of fully sponsored training appear to be long gone and for good (with the exception of Cathay), the good thing about this I suppose is that at least airlines are starting to think about the cadetship route again, instead of sending us all into the hands of Ryanair et al

I don't know if any of you have been following the aforementioned thread on pprune started by a guy who got shafted by Thomas Cook, but it seems he is not willing to only vent his fury online and has made a complaint to the Advertising Standards Agency in England about the FPP!

    Here it is...
    http://www.dalemedia.com/asa-british-airways-complaint.html

He really has a bee in his bonnet about this!

Yes i was reading all his threads on the matter, its hard to think what his story is, i cant help but feeling there is more to this than he is telling, or maybe he realises, i.e it may have been a whole number of little things culminating with the check ride that got him the boot

Who has applied for this, i have got called to the next stage, there dosnt seem to be many here or pprune that have said they have been called, but i imagine there are loads more. i applied with FTE. The next stage is starting next week with them. Tests and an interview.

Yeah it seems unfortunate, from reading it there didn't seem to be a conspiracy behind it just unlucky I guess.

Just on the Thomas Cook thing, there's another thing I saw on pprune.

Check out the blog of current TC cadets still in training, there's a live news feed on the blog with travel industry news, on the right the latest news is that Thomas Cook are to axe 250 jobs get rid of 6 aircraft!
