Ok so i need to get the timing belt change on a 03 Skoda Fabia 1.4 auto.
my question is is it worth my wile sourcing the parts myself and getting a garage to fit it or just get a garage to do the whole lot.

Can get the timing belt kit for €140 and the water pump for €48.

Most complete quotes are coming in at the €370 to €400 mark, is there any advantage to going the other way .money is very tight at the mo and anything saved is great.

    thanks for your time.

get the garage to do the lot. if theres any sort of problem before, during or after the job, and you've sourced your own parts it will be all your fault for using poor parts. a good indie will source the parts cheaper than you.
€48 is not a great price for the pump.

I've had the timing belt replaced on my Laguna three times since I've owned it and I always get the parts myself and get a local Renault mechanic to fit it in his own garage. Always save money...usually costs me €200 all in.... and I've never had a problem.

Id buy the parts first if I was you, shouldn't take too long to fit them, then it's only labour plus vat.

TMC in Navan (Main Skoda Dealer) have a deal at the moment for timing belt replacement on all vag models for €350.
