SGS II 3.5mm earphone socket problem

Hi i was in a shop browsing and listening to music on my SII through earphones and i hunkered down to view an item that was down low. And the earphone piece must have pushed sideways and ruined the 3.5 socket as a short while after the sound was all funny and i didn't know what was going on so i unplugged and inserted the ear phones a few times to see if it would fix the sound and it didn't work. So while the earphones were plugged in i pushed sideways on the connection lightly and the sound was perfect and as soon as i would take my hand away the sound would go bad again.

So im just wondering what are my options do i send it back to Samsung and have them replace the 3.5 socket or what can i do. Also i have rooted and installed lightening rom on the phone. Obviously i would have to reinstall the standard rom but will samsung know that i had insatlled a custom rom and then charge me for fixing the phone. Thanks for any replys!

I also had funky sound from my new SGSII using my old earphones (a combination of Sony Ericsson buds and Samsung Jet handsfree cable) there was definitely something wrong with it, but the earphones that came with the phone work fine, not sure what that's about.

No i damaged the socket when i bent down. The socket now needs to be replaced. I actually order a socket off ebay so when i it arrives i will attempt to change it. I'm not actually at home at the min so i have no tools to open the phone and see how difficult it will be to change.
