yeah this basically , there is another rule you can pick a team to win or draw one week but i reckon that would be hard to implement. i suppose the deadline is like 2.55 on saturday all entries have time on them so its easy to see who picked late or not .

The way I worked one last year around xmas time was when games were getting cancelled due to the weather if a game was cancelled the person who picked a team in one of those matches got a bye into the next round and they couldn't use that team again. It was the fairest then because games were being cancelled very late however I think we should know if games are going to be cancelled this weekend by tomorrow I imagine. So not sure if it as fair here

If they are rescheduled a few weeks or months down the line then I'd say start again because being the opening weekend is a big factor in predicting results.

But that'd leave it open to people picking teams from a match that's called off knowing that they'll get a bye into the next round.
Say, for example, QPR v Bolton is called off. All I'd have to do is pick QPR and I'd be automatically into next weeks round but I'll not be allowed to pick QPR again (oh no!)

You're playing the game wrong. The aim of the game is just to survive, doesn't matter how. So there's no point choosing a team with a hard fixture. Pick a team with the easiest fixture each week.
