I saw this in the annual report, its nuts a huge database of every claim ever made that people as diverse as Dublin City Council and Aviva can access.

I thought it would be something that the data protection act would curtail. The justification in preventing fraudulent claims is the basis for it, I suppose on the theory that someone making multiple claims was more likely to be a fraudster rather then unlucky and unfortunate.

I know shocked wasn't the word for when I read this - also the upload of pre claims they can't even differ between a claim or pre claim so if a person did go to claim they would be classed as fraudester because the pre claim was listed- I wonder how this was bought to the attention of data protection commissioner and why didn't they name and shame the companies that have done this? I reckon they gave them x date to get there affairs in order and to change the errors before going legal route- is there way to find out if any of insurance companies got fined for this breach??

Also wonder will the insurance companies notify the people that have been affected??
