So I need need to create a "liveUSB" if you will. I've used UNetbootin to extract the required .iso onto a USB to covert the liveCD to a bootable USB.

Now I changed the BIOS order to USB external first, then internal drive on my inspiron 6400. But no luck. Any ideas? Is it the UNetbootin, is it my laptop. Any help would be welcome!

I'd say it's the usb not configured correctly tbh...

Any idea now to make a bootable USB from a .iso? Anyone?

    Look up "win32 disk imager"

It will set up your USB drive properly so that its bootable. You may need to change the file extension from .iso to .img

What iso are you trying to make bootable?

I use UNETBOOTIN for Ubuntu and the likes. Haven't used it in a good while mind...

I am trying to make Macrium rescue CD bootable. It is a backup manager and disk imager. My laptop is showing it's age and as my CD drive no longer works USB has to be it. Having said that, it is not a major thing seeing as I shall be getting a new machine before the end of the year with any sort of luck.

Will have a look at that DjFlin. Thanks!
