Parking Fine Query

    Hi

I received a parking fine for parking opposite a continous white line. I was going for a swim in White Rock in Dalkey and I parked the car on Vico Rd. There was about 10 cars parked on the side of the road and as there were no road markings apart from the continuous white line in the middle of the road.

There are no signs to say no parking anywhere on the road, is it worth contesting this? Or should I just pay it and be done?

I just thought a continuous white line meant no overtaking. Is it still valid if there is no sign warning no parking on the road?

    Cheers

The white line on it's own is sufficient to disallow parking. You must not park in any place which breaks the law or forces others to break the law. If you park opposite a continuous line, people overtaking you could be forced to cross that line to get past you.

Very true... Just miffed about a fine, should have learned the rules of the road completely!

There are parking spaces at Whiterock, where were you parked in relation to these?
