Looks like the seller hangs out on VAG drivers - http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=61966
(I googled the mobile number from the ad!)

He has a more detailed ad up there - http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=59884

Very clean looking if that's the sort of thing you're into.

    Price maybe a little ambitious?

He asked me if i'd be interested in taking it against the 18 Turbo...Thought about it for all of about 2 hours but,,no,,.It wouldnt be me. If I thought I could turn it around fairly quickly then maybe but he has it up for a fair while too, so I'll keep going the way I'm going. I want to sell the 18 to buy a 4L so I'd be better to be stuck with a car that I like than one I dont!

We used to briefly have a saloon one with over 200k on the clock that was bought for 800 quid.Carb version was a minefield with pipes, and the choke didn't really work either.

That black one above looks good though

The price seems "high" for a car that's not very popular in this country, but it is unreal clean though, and they're good cars. LOADS of space and load capacity, more than you'd think even, i have a B4 version which is the next model on but basically the same thing really.
It's hard to put a price on a car that doesnt have much of a following here, who's to ay what it's "worth" anyway? Bit of an oddball car but a good one`

Well the way I look at it now is that nothing unless its very cheap is selling, so I'd rather have something I actually like(My 18)than have another car that I'm not really into.

    I think it is class - retro-chique.

I think the price is okay - how much would a Golf GTI be of similar vintage? I bet you could haggle him down under the 2K too.
