€200 for a pre NCT service?

Any opinions on whether €200 is average price for a service. It's from a Peugeot dealer for a 05 206 1.4L diesel. The reason I went directly to the dealer this time is because I feel I have more comeback than dealing with an independent garage. Any opinions on whether I should use an independent garage?

I don't know anything about cars other than to change a tyre and check the oil and water so I cant DIY.

bring to nct, and then fix what you have to.
Car has to be serviced by mileage or time, not when NCT is due.

That's only a pre Nct service it by no means the car will pass, that €200 could turn into €1000 for a full mail dealer service, you won't have any
comeback if it fails the Nct and you didn't do everything advised.

There's very little difference between taking it to a main dealer and the chap down the road if it's for a pre Nct service.

Get the lights checked, make sure the tyres are ok and there no leaks and you'll be just as well off, should set you back less than €50. No real need for a garage bar checking the lights unless you think there's something wrong with the car.

My mechanic told me to just go to the NCT and then he'd fix what they say needs to be done. I think he's right, since what if he misses something, or the NCT tester is just being a pr!ck (has happened to me with brakes twice in the one month!), you will still have to go back, get it fixed, and re-do the test. So there's no point in shelling out €200 for a service, when all you might need to do is change a tyre or fix a bulb.

As has been said, you don't need a service just because the nct is due, there should be no difference between a service being done before an nct and any other time.

Many reputable independant garages offer a free pre-nct inspection and just ask them to show you and explain to you any issues they find.

Thanks for the info. I'm booking in for the NCT now and service after if needs be.

car has to be serviced when time or mileage comes, not an NCT, so make sure is it due service. If you dont know when it suppose to get next service, do it straight away.

I think 200 is a little bit steep for a pre-nct service (depending on where you live), I always go to an independent mechanic, you get a better service (pardon the pun) from them, You leave your car into a dealer and God knows how many people are working on it.
