Ford Focus Timing Belt

Hey lads, I recently purchased a 2006 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6tdi from my father and I'm just after going over the 100,000 km mark.

I asked my dad whether he had the timing belt changed on the car and he said he hadn't but he was fairly certain that this model of car didn't need to have it changed - that he'd enquired about it before and that it uses a timing chain instead.

Just wondering if this is the norm for such a model or is it complete horseshít

I'll get the car checked out at the weekend by my local mechanic to be sure, but said I'd check here first to see if anybody's heard of this before?

    Thanks in advance for replies
