If I search on ebay.ie and select the filter for postage to IRL why does it give me ads that only post to UK ?

    Really annoying.

I've been wondering the same thing, really annoying me at this stage! Anyone know how to solve this problem?

    Very annoying

I used to buy used DVDs from Ebay all of the time but now nobody posts to Ireland.

But they still all show up on the Ebay.IE website.

I have emailed them, but I doubt it will change anything.

I wonder if we could use one of the european Ebay sites like France or Germany?

    Anybody else got any ideas?

i've just noticed this problem - i use ebay quite a lot and i tried bidding on 5 different items by 5 different sellers and each one came up in big red letters that they don't post to ireland??!! What the hell is going on??!!

I simply use ebay.com and ebay.co.uk these let you pick IRL and you can sort by combined postage lowest first. You can go to advanced settings and alter hits to worldwide to get more hits.

I got an item yesterday, on ebay.co.uk it clearly shows the postage to ireland without having to go into the actual auction page, on ebay.ie it says "see description" -also on ebay.ie I see it still does not have the feature to sort by price including postage first, so you will get loads of 99cent items with high postage first on your list.

Ebay's search system has always been very bad, I used to have to search ebay.de to get lots of things as they would not appear on other ebay sites, but ebay.ie is truly terrible, just avoid it.

to change this go to advanced search and choose location and click items available to ireland only this will give you items on ebay.ie and ebay.co.uk that ship to ireland

if you really want the item best thing is to contact the seller and see if they will post to irl. theyll prob add on extra for potage but if you dont ask you dont get

The main reason they wont ship here is the lack of PostCodes. PayPal and many other international credit-card processers can only confirm addresses that have a postcode. Without this confirmation the eBay vendor risks loosing their paypal insurance if something goes wrong.

Just another good reason to get postcodes for Ireland sorted or at least made official. Loc8 codes already exist and are in use here.

If the seller is just a regular eBay user (and not a business seller) usually they are unaware that they aren't offering postage to other countries. So what I did is add a new address to my account using all original details except I changed country to UK and entered a post code. That way I can bid away and sort out postage with seller at a later date if I win the item.

You should always email them prior to bidding. Some are fully aware of their postal restrictions and will not post here. I find most will post here once requested but you should never bid before confirmation.

It is unfair on the seller and the other bidders if you wasted everybodies time & effort by ruining an auction. It also leaves you open to an angry or greedy seller saying postage is a huge amount, in some cases this is pretty fair as it includes "handling", they might have to spend time going down the postoffice to determine the postage costs again. They might have ready made packets for local delivery, with postage already known. They might not trust postal services in some countries etc.
