    Hi Folks,

I’ve recently discovered that You Tube is not just good for Ninja Cats and really unfunny parodies of Lady Gaga songs….

..There’s also some damn good documentaries on there.

So with that in mind please post one’s you may find interesting.

    I’ll get started.

A lot of stuff on The Smiths like this.

Some interesting early stuff from the eighties.
The Importance of Being Morrissey is there as well.

    Here's my two cents:

The Decline Of Western Civilization is a brilliant documentary about the L.A. punk scene circa 1979/1980. Features live performances and interviews from bands like The Germs, X, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and a few more.

    Here's a seven-minute clip from it:

1991: The Year Punk Broke is an excellent documentary as well. It follows Sonic Youth on tour around Europe with Nirvana and also features Dinosaur Jr, Babes In Toyland, The Ramones and others.

The whole thing is up here on Google videos, the picture quality isn't the best though:

In 1995, PBS (& Hugh Thompson & Robert Palmer, the critic not the musician) produced a comprehensive series on the history of rock and roll. While there were other documentaries produced at that time with the same name, this one is superior & harder to find. In this, part 7 of the series, the filmmakers examine the impact of Andy Warhol & the Velvet Underground on The Doors, Iggy Pop, David Bowie and Alice Cooper. They describe how glam became more theatrical, leading to bands like Kiss. The scenes with the fans are priceless...

After watching the whole lot of this last night I've come to the conclusion that I don't like it as much as I anticipated. Interesting stuff in there about Lou Reed, Bowie & Iggy Pop but quite a large chunk in the middle is a bit boring.

One wanker with mental issues stalking another wanker with drug issues. Total tabloid fodder.

Eh, this one is kind of full on but it's fascinating. It's a documentary about Michael Alig and the Club Kids in New York.

Lots of drug and sex references throughout. Just so you knows…

Quite tragic in a hilarious way. And Peter Doherty is not a wanker..

Ah he is. A guy with an inability to form a coherent sentence with a penchant for pretension and a fashionable drug addiction who became a hero to a load of angsty middle class kids and was also a NME man of the year? Total wanker

    If that's not a **** face, I don't know what is.

Heroin addict in heroin consumption shocker.
It's amazing what paparazzi can come up with a continueous drive camera on someones face with multiple frames per second, publish the worst for maximum outrage, sell more papers.

Give out about tabloid fodder - Proceed to ignore musical output, moan about drug addiction and middle class kids, and post a photo published by The Sun.

    Ironic post is ironic.

I don't know where the photo came from originally (how did you? I got it from a 'Pete Doherty is a wanker' Facebook page after using this wonderful invention called Google) but I didn't put it up for maximum outrage I put it up for sh1ts and giggles and as a helpful visual to show that I think Mr Doherty is a wanker.

And the reason I didn't bother mentioning his musical output is because it's terrible. I thought everyone knew that.

    Cranky post is cranky.

If you listened to Time For Heroes and For Lovers, just two examples, you would clearly see he is a gifted poet/lyricist and musician. He is also extremely well spoken and eloquent in interviews.
