Hi guys, would apppreciate some advise as am bit clueless - we were thinking of doing up our main bathroom, we would be thinking of the following work -

    Removal of all tiles
    Tile floor and walls
    Fitting and installing power shower
possibly getting new bath/shower unit installed

We'd probably keep the old loo and sink.

    Thanks

I just got roughly the same done.

The bathroom was half tiled by the orig builders but I always hated them and it badly needed to be sorted.

We kept the bath, sink & toilet. The tiles around the bath were taken down by the tiler and luckily enough the wall wasn't in need of plastering. He tiled around the bath and a splashback behind the sink. Before he started the floor he decided that he did want the loo & sink out afterall as it would look much better than tiling around them.

So then a plumber was involved in the project. He took out the loo & sink & re-installed when the tiler was done. I was also fortunate enough to have both the electric wire and pipe ready for the electric shower to be installed. If you dont have this I presume you will need to add the cost of a electrician to sort that out.

I am using a shower curtain at the moment but do intend to get a bath screen fitted for the shower.

Altogether it cost about €1500 (but I did go for expensive tiles) for an approx 2m x 2m bathroom. I would certainly encourage you to do it. It's a total pain for approx 2 weeks but I am so happy that I eventually bit the bullet and got it done.
