    Hi folks,
As the title says anyone know what this is. Never saw one before.
Just so you know the size he is sitting on the corner of a lotto ticket so you can see the print size for comparison.

I'd agree but I thought vine weevils had white dots in their backs. If it is a vine weevils guard your plants from it.

    Why dont you like them?

they cause serious damage in the flower garden and those in pot culture. All females are self fertile and have recently hatched. I have already seen nibbled leaf edges. It's the grubs that do the damage. The eat plant roots. One day you go out and a plant has collapsed because every piece of root has been eaten.

In my garden they destroy Primulas, Geraniums, Hostas and that's all I cant think of just now

It's Phyllobius pomaceus. They are widespread and fairly common.
