    Hi,

Looking for a bit of advice for a bike to purchase on the BTW scheme. I know there are several similar threads but to be honest I know very little about bikes.

Currently cycle a (cheapish) hybrid for about the last 4 years. Bits and pieces need to be repaired and replaced on it I have been told so decided to make a new purchase instead.

Would be used predominatly for 10km cycle to and from work and if the bike was suitable, a few cycles of approx 40-50km at the weekend for cardio workout.

Couple of things that might have an impact, bike will be kept indoors at home and in secure underground car park at work.
Possibility of attaching mudguards would be nice but not absolutely essential.

Have looked through some of them and people are talking about groupsets and the different makes of components. What should I be concerned with mostly? If I do get a roadbike should I be getting the cycling shoes and clips for the pedals or would they be unnessary for the amount of cycling being done?

Would be greatful for any feedback.

to be fair, this has been done to death.....and all of the previous responses apply to you. Seems like road bike would suit best in terms of your commute and cardio workout etc. You don't need clipless pedals at all, but you will prob want them in time to increase efficiency. All bikes can take mudgaurds
