Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Has anyone owned or can advise about Jeep Grand Cherokee (Overland)?

Looking at a 2004 CRD 2.7 with 87,000 miles. Full spec, newish tyres.

I love the look of them and they are reasonably priced but I am being advised not to touch them by people who have not owned one but reckon they are not worth the trouble because they are made by Jeep (Chrysler).

Any advice or views would be greatly appreciated.

i was considering one of these a few years ago , i looked up all the recall notices , things like electric seats going on fire , fan blades striking cables and transmission fluid mysteriously leaking out kept me away. theyre dirt cheap for a reason.

I know this thread is quite old but I only spotted it, when looking for something else, today. I am currently driving a 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland and cannot praise it enough. Apart from regular servicing and tyres in 140,000Kms I have had to replace the lower passenger side front ball joint, the diff oil seal & the glow plug module. It can be heavy on juice though (obviously this depends on how heavy your right foot is). On a motorway run, using cruise control as much as possible, it will do 30ish, less in town. It is fast, comfortable and very well equipped. And they are as cheap as chips second hand.

    Good luck.
