As I'm sure some of you are aware Was cost £1.2m and is a three parts sister to New Approach.

She's just after winning her maiden in very nice fashion. She ran all over the field and quicken nicely to win with easy.

She looks like a lovely animal.

Holds an entry in the Moyglare Stud Stakes later on in the year.

Did anyone else see the race?

Check out Was in the first at the Curragh tomorrow,Galileo's highest priced filly to be sold in the Uk or Ireland as a yearling.

Can anyone guess who was the most expensive filly by Galileo when she was sold as a 4 year old?

Too big to ignore, most expensive yearling by Galileo ever. Host of group 1 entries suggests she's well thought of and Ballydoyle in good form. Small bet for the interest.I've just seen Purple is being backed off the boards now, will probably hack up knowing the yard.

Way ahead of you Shane. She caught my eye last night while I was looking at Galileo's sales. Looked very bright there, did it cosily and that could be a good race.

Shane-How is she a three part sister to New Approach? I didn't realise they were that closely related,I see they share the same grand dam

I hope you got best odds.... Can't believe she drifted out to 9/2.

I did indeed. She even went to 5/1 for a few minutes.

Why can't RTE show it , a top class card with a GP1 . What are the digital channels and TG4 for .

I was just thinking the same thing. They can show a week of Galway which people at home have little interest in but can't put on what is the best card of the year I think.

RTE radio 1 finally put the GP 1 race on a mere 25 mins or so after it took place , despite having the Radio one Extra channel to cater for a live broadcast of it if they had not wanted to interrupt the GAA ..

The big races at the curragh today are on the racing post website free to view today , including the one was won.

I agree, RTE are really taking the p*** recently... Funnily enough got a letter about TV License renewal the other day

Back to WAS, she looked a real professional in the parade ring, definitely the pick of the field, so I for one was amazed at the 9/2 on offer in the ring! Not only that she won with her ears pricked, taking it all in.

Gotta agree the names are nuts at the moment.

    RTE aren't to blame.

The Association of Irish Racecourses decide on which races are sold, and yesterdays racing wasn't part of it.

At The Races also have a say.

It's really not as simple to say RTE should be covering it.

I'll bow to your superior knowledge on the broadcasting rights . They could broadcast the audio on the radio one extra channel to avoid clashing with the GAA on Radio one, as they always broadcast it when it doesn't clash , it's just a matter of having the will to do so . Similarly, if RTE had the desire the racecourses would sell the rights . I doubt it would be too great an expense to use the spare Digital channels to give some kind of service . The bookies might be willing to sponsor it to some extent and it would be nice to show off what can be done with the new Saorview service .

Maybe they ran out of 'cool' names for the time being - can't be easy coming up with names for all the horses they have! :pac:

Some of the fillies that finished in behind her are entered into a fillies race on Saturday at the Curragh. Could show how strong the form may be.
