G&G Gr16 Raider handle heating up
hey there guys i was using my gr16 raider at rathbeggan today, and the grip of the gun, where the motor is, was getting really hot, and it wasnt feeding well form my CA high cap mag. also, my friend, who also has a raider, was having the same problem and today his gun wasnt firing or feeding properly. i was jsut wondering if anybody had any experience with this and if so is there any fix for it?
    Thanks guys

Sounds like your motor is on the way out, you may even be able to smell the Varnish from the motor due to the overheating
I have had to replace several Raider motor, the Raider is a great AEG but the motor is its Achilles Heal/weak point

Can I ask what battery you are using? Have found that 9.6v batteries can often be too much for the G&G motor...dropping to 8.4 crane stock batteries usually sorted that problem out.

jeez thanks for that, it comes with a 9.6v battery so that almost seems reckless of G&G:S

no problem....I am guessing here.......but there are a couple of reason's why your motor is getting toasty,

1 - G&G would have supplied a 9.6v based on the fact that the AEG would be firing over 1J, meaning ROF etc would have been lower, meaning motor not turning/working as quickly. As the AEG would have been downgraded for the Irish market, most likely a spring change, the motor is turning alot quicker, quicker than it is meant too. Swapping to a lower powered battery should help this.

2 - There could actually be a problem inside the gearbox, trapped wire in the pistol grip.

I'd be more inclined to go with the first option before going down the road of checking internals.
