Officially shooting for Slayer tonight so I'll have to post something up when they are done, saw the lights from last night though and they were brutal but I love a challenge :)

I can vouch for that, from a photography viewpoint, the lights were atrocious (not unusually for the Academy, it has to be said).

Yeah it's pretty much Ministry all over again so fist song red , second blue, third green and white for the solo's. Might have a chat with the lighting tech before they go on.

The Academy is an awful, awful venue.

I like it as a venue, just the lighting can be...weird. I'm not one for filming gigs, but I try to get a couple of snaps per gig for posterity. The Academy is always the hardest of the main venues to get decent pics at because most of the lights are behind the band on stage and there is minimal light from the front. Maybe I'm wrong and Lisa or one of the more experienced photoogs knows better, but that's how it seems to me anyway.

As a venue though, the fact that you can lean on the railing at the sound desk and be that close to the stage means it's not all bad. :)

Well that was tough! ridiculously so but that's the same for every indoor Slayer show. It was still an awesome night and the guys signed my stuff and Tom gave me his plec so I'm chuffed with that. But yeah tough tough shoot, I caught a fairly nasty headbutt too but kept shooting, well worth it.

Glad to see a Bruce fan! You're the only one I found in this thread:( I went to see him in Belfast recently as ell as Kilkenny on both nights! Brilliant time, except for the accommodation.
He's touring Australia in February next year. I'd say he'll be back in Ireland too sometime next year. I can't wait!!!

PS. I took some great pictures too at the concerts.
